The 2014 Brazil FIFA World Cup was one of the most vibrant and dramatic world cups in recent history. This world cup saw the rise of James and the Colombian national team as they made it the quarter finals for the first time in the history of the league. In this round of 16 game against Uruguay, James Rodrigez made what would later become the official goal of the year

In this broadsheet publication, I use game footage and fan recordings to capture the energy and passion displayed from the Colombian announcer Javier Hernandez Bonilla, the crowd, and the national team as they score their first game of the match and most legendary goal of the tournament, solidifying Colombia as one of the global standouts that year.

I am a recent Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design and Human-Computer Interaction graduate from Washington University in St. Louis. I come from a Colombian and Mexican family—or 'Colexican' as my mom calls it—and that mix really inspires my love for cross-cultural design.I’m passionate about using design to explore identity, create socially engaged work, and bring ideas to life through motion graphics. I also love working in arts education and am dedicated to advocating for more representation in the design world.
