MedNaranja
Fall 2022

Image Making and Meaning
Advisor: Audra Hubbel

This project depicts a metaphorical journey through an accordion-style book. Throughout this book, I depict my relationship with my younger sister over time. Through the use of droplets, I show our evolutionary relationship from clashing when we were younger, to bonding over our Hispanic heritage, to eventually coming together as one. The term media naranja in Spanish is akin to one's “other half” and through this book, it's been reframed as the relationship of these droplets/sisters coming together to make one naranja.

y en español :)
I am a recent Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design and Human-Computer Interaction graduate from Washington University in St. Louis. I come from a Colombian and Mexican family—or 'Colexican' as my mom calls it—and that mix really inspires my love for cross-cultural design.I’m passionate about using design to explore identity, create socially engaged work, and bring ideas to life through motion graphics. I also love working in arts education and am dedicated to advocating for more representation in the design world.
